Ari Carrillo is artist, professor, mentor and filmmaker. His work is enveloping and transports your into his world, with a combination of old techniques and new technology. His Veracruz roots are also evident. Ari’s religious commentary puts you on the edge of your seat.

A set of movie posters have been released from the upcoming short film “Heaven”. If the posters are any indication, this definitely is a “must see”. Coming to a film festival near you in early 2011.

Our very first artist spotlight has the honor of going to Elizabeth Lundberg Morisette. Her work is playful with a vibrant color sense. Elizabeth’s use of found objects and their placement is truly mesmerizing. It brings out the modern-art joy of childhood.

The above piece is called “Choking Hazard”, is made of toys, fabric, and string. The dimensions are 20″ x 25″, and the cost is $600.

From Elizabeth:

[The work] is created by weaving fabric strips, cotton twine and small plastic toys. I like to take found objects, most of the time recycled and assemble them together is a large mass. I use a weaving technique similar to a shag rug weaving, using the warp strings to hold each of the items on the work. Each piece is created upside down from the way it is displayed. This forms a torso type shape that echoes the human quality of things.
